As an E-Drive Systems Specialist you are an expert in managing systems and functions powered by electricity. Your job is within research and development to support e-drive systems for machinery and vehicles.

These skills are highly demanded in the future for designers, test engineers and development engineers in the automotive industry. The course is designed to provide knowledge about electric traction systems (electric machine, traction battery, and inverter) and related sub-components. Additionally, the students will learn how to behave in a high voltage environment (laws, standards, and safety guidelines), fundamentals of electrical engineering, the basics of electrical measurements, and good practices in reaching electromagnetic compatibility when designing vehicle components.

Distance learning

The E-Drive System Specialist programme run full-time (100% study tempo). All lectures are delivered as live webinar/seminars during daytime and it’s strongly recommended to schedule sufficient time for assignments, quizzes, degree project and laboratory reports. All live webinar/seminars will be recorded and uploaded on the learning platform. There are five scheduled meetings during the programme where you will get to meet educators and classmates in person in Trollhättan and/or Gothenburg for hands-on lab sessions and other student learning activities to enhance learning.

Diploma

The education leads to a Higher Vocational Education degree (yrkeshögskoleexamen).

Ways to meet the requirements through recognition of prior learning:

If you do not have the necessary formal qualifications, recognition of prior learning is a way to qualify for this education.

Prior learning means that you have the necessary skills, but you may have acquired them through other means than the traditional scholar route. For example, you may already have been working, or in other ways been active, within a relevant field and/or profession, or you may have completed other courses with the required skills.

For us to make a proper assessment we ask that you upload any relevant documents such as diplomas from courses, letters of recommendation from earlier employers, certifications, documentation of voluntary work, internships, etc.

The documents should provide information about your previous courses and/or positions and responsibilities – i.e. during which time were you active and to what extent (full-time/part-time) while working/studying?

Please utilize the form in the link below (please note that it is in Swedish) to map out your eligibility through real-life experience or, if you have any questions regarding this subject, please contact our dedicated staff at antagningyh@ya.se for help.

Fill in the form Formulär för kompetenskartläggning and submit your application.

Distance learning

Studying a distance learning course gives you the freedom to choose where you want to study and, to a large extent, when you want to study. Learning and communication take place online, but also through a couple of physical class meetings per semester. Each meeting is between one and four days and can include activities such as exams, lectures, discussions, reports, group exercises, and group work.

This form of study allows for great freedom but also a great responsibility. In most courses, seminars with educators take place in real-time online during business hours. This also applies to tutoring. Most of the courses are full-time, meaning about 40 hours per week (including self-studies). To succeed, you need to plan your studies and actively take part in communication regarding tasks, schedules, and more.

Your classroom

You need to have access to a computer (not a smartphone or tablet), a stable internet connection, a webcam (preferably external), and a headset intended for your computer (we recommend USB headsets). You can choose to study at home, at the municipalities’ learning centers, at libraries, or in other suitable environments.

The daily work

We teach via our learning platform and our web-based seminar tool. Through these, you get access to educational material and can participate in discussions and seminars. Both individual assignments and group work occur.

Internship (LIA)

During your program, you will get the chance to apply your theoretical knowledge in the field via internships. In Swedish it’s called Lärande I Arbete (LIA). You are allowed to do your internship wherever you’d like in Sweden. If you cannot find a suitable company to do your LIA at, YrkesAkademin can guarantee an internship, but we cannot guarantee that it will be in your desired city. The internship position must be related to the professional role and approved by us.
